ELECTION INFORMATION 
 
 
 
 
In order to vote in any election, you must be a registered voter of St. Clair County.  The deadline to register to vote is the fourth Wednesday prior to an election. 
 
 
ABSENTEE BALLOTS 
An absentee ballot is available to any person properly registered who expects to be prevented from going to the polls to vote on election day due to:
1)  Absence on election day.
2)  Incapacity or confinement due to illness or physical disability.
3)  Religious beliefs or practice.
4)  Employment as an election authority in a location other than their own polling location.
5)  Incarceration, provided all qualifications for voting are retained. 
 
 
Application for an Absentee Ballot:
1)  Application may be made by the applicant in person, or by mail, or for the applicant, in person by his or her guardian or relative within the second degree.  Applications may be received by fax or e-mail.
2)  An application must be in writing (not verbal) and shall contain the applicant's name, registered physical address, reason for voting absentee, and address to mail the absentee ballot.  In a Primary Election, the ballot application shall also indicate which ballot the person wishes to receive.
3)  Applications for ballots to be mailed must be received in the County Clerk's Office no later than the Wednesday immediately prior to the election.
4)  Applications must include the voter's signature on it (or a mark with a witness if the person is unable to write).
 
 
To request an absentee ballot application:
1) Come into the County Clerk's Office (Courthouse)  at 655 2nd St. Osceola, Mo.  OR
2)  Call the County Clerk's Office for an application to be mailed to you, if time allows, at 417-646-2315  OR
3)  E-mail a request for an application with the above information to stclair@sos.mo.gov  OR
4)  Fax your request for an application with the above information to 417-646-8080
